Slow Cooker Cola Ribs

These oriental fall-off-the-bone ribs are extremely tender combined with cola, which creates a sticky sweet yet savory taste.

Ingredients:

  • 1 Rack of Pork Ribs (sliced and membrane removed)

  • 2tsp Borges Extra Virgin Olive Oil

  • 1 Onion

  • 3 Garlic Cloves

  • 1tsp Crushed Ginger

  • 2tbsp Dark Soy Sauce

  • 1 Chili Pepper

  • 1tsp Chinese 5 Spices

  • 1tbsp Brown Sugar

  • 1 tsp Honey

  • 2 Pieces Star Anise

  • 200ml Cola

  • 2 Spring Onions to serve

  • Salt & Pepper

Directions:

  • 1.On your Crock-Pot Express Multi-Cooker press the Brown/Sauté function.

  • 2.When heat is reached, add the olive oil and fry the onion and garlic for about 2 minutes.

  • 3.Add the crushed ginger, soy sauce, chili pepper and Chinese 5 spices and cook for another 2 minutes stirring constantly.

  • 4.Add the ribs and cook for another 2 minutes.

  • 5.Now add the brown sugar, honey, star anise, cola and season with salt & pepper. Gently stir everything.

  • 6.Close the lid and turn the Steam Release valve on Release setting.

  • 7.Now press the Slow Cook function and let it cook for at least 3 hours.

  • 8.Once cooked serve with noodles and fresh spring onions.

  • 9.If you want a thicker sauce, once cooked remove the ribs from the pot. Set aside and choose the Brown/Sauté function until the sauce is well thickened.

  • 10.For crispier ribs just place them under a hot grill or oven for about 5 minutes.
